RE: I dodged the bullet...hospital

Hospital: Place where they wake you up to give you a sleeping pill
Hosptial: Place where they wake you up every 2 hours to ask how you are sleeping
Hospital: Place where the food... Drives up business for the E.R.
After being a nurse for 30 some years, I can tell you that all of the above is correct. One of many reasons I DID NOT want to be a patient. We nurses make very bad patients.
Thanks for the get wells. I am really feeling better tonight! Even cooked some dinner. Didn't taste good, but I did cook.

I dodged the bullet...hospital

For the last 2 1/2 weeks I have been sick with a sinus infection, bronchitis and pneumonia. Finally today, I am starting to feel better. Doctor gave me until tomorrow, then I was off to the hospital. I probably should not have been so stuborn and went earlier, but I couldn't stand the thought of being there.
Thank goodness I started to get better.
Hope you all are feeling good and enjoying this fall weather.

RE: Favorite Ground beef recipes, any new ones?

My kids used to like hamburger steak made by making a good size patty(1/4?) seasoning with salt, pepper, garlic salt and????. Then dip in a egg wash, and roll in cracker crumbs. Fry and serve with mashed potatoes and gravy, or on a good hamburger bun.
Just a little different then a normal burger.

RE: Live each day as if it were your last

I am so sorry for your loss. I have no words of wisdom, nothing I can say will make it better. As, I lost my precious Skip a little over two months ago, I can only ask that you take care of your self. Take time to grieve.
I will keep you and your precious daughter in my thoughts and prayers.

RE: Daddy/Mommy Bragging Thread

My youngest DS22 just graduated truck driving school, top of the class. He is out with his trainer now, who says he is doing great. I am so proud of him. He had really been depressed since his divorce.

RE: Social Security.....I hadnt heard of this before

Could it be the difference in SS or disability? Skip passed away on the 23rd of the month. I had to take back the check he got on the 3rd of the next month, but didn't have to pay any thing back....just a thought.

RE: Social Security.....I hadnt heard of this before

I didn't have to return any thing except the next months check when Skip passed away.
My MIL and I have both had several calls saying that Skip owed this or that. That we both know he did not. One call was sying he owed 10,000 on a credit card from 1996. He never had a credit card through them. Not sure why we got(and get) these calls, but some days they are really disturbing.
I think she needs to call SS and make sure that they are really the ones asking for the money back.

RE: Stupid Cats

Our cat got out once. We lived in an apt in a motel. Her name was Ms. Puss. About midnight, she pushed the screen out of the window and was gone in a flash.
Fast forward to us, out in the parking lot in our night clothes, calling for Ms........well you get the picture.
Got a lot of teasing over that.

What a birthday and it isn't even here yet!

Today, my MIL and I drove up to have lunch with Mom. I didn't think any thing about it, as MIL and I have been trying to do something together at least once a week.
Soon after we arrived, my sis comes in with a birthday cake and a gift from her. I thought, wow, this is nice. I was totally dismissing my birthday, as it is the first one with out Skip.
Then, my DIL came in. Cool. I thought a ladies party. Soon after we had lunch and cake my sis comes in with this big box. OHG!!!!! It was a lap top. I about fell over. They had all went together and got it for me.
I am so blessed! And still in shock!

RE: what's your favorite camping dinner??

Last camp out, I cooked a pot of pinto beans in the crock pot. Fried up some tators and onions in the big cast iron skillet. Made some corn bread in another cast iron skillet, cooked like pancakes. Son grilled some steaks over the fire. Ohhhhhhhh man oh man, it was sooooo good!

RE: Please allow just slight baring of my soul

I am so sorry to hear of the loss of your brother. Some times it is a blessing that our elderly can view things a little different. We did not tell my Grannie when my dad passed away. We were sorry every day. We thought at 100 yrs old she could not handle it. It just made it harder on us.
I will keep you and your family in my prayers.

RE: What a glorious day!

Hi Cat,
It was wonderful here too. I have been at Mom's for the last couple of days. Yesterday I had lunch at school with my 10 yr old grand daughter. Today it was her brothers turn, he is a big whoppin 6 yrs old.
They got to spend the night with us last night and I walked them to school this morning. I was in heaven.
Grand parents day at school is so awesome. I saw many friends there, doing the same thing with their grand kids, and not one of us was not thrilled to be there. Today, when I went to CJ's class room, they had all drawn pictures of their grand parents. When his teacher told me to look at the picture, I asked her if he drew my "extra" chin. She started laughing so hard, said she wasn't going to mention it, but he had told the entire class that that was his Nana's extra chin, not a beard. Is that not the cutest thing ever???
Mom and I have brother and sister dogs, so they were crazy! They rolled and played until we were tired just watching them.
Ahhhhh, time spent with grand kids and mothers is the best time spent.!!

RE: I just spoke with Lon Frank......lost almost everything

I don't know Lon, but from his posts here, I like him. I am so sorry he is going through this, but good to know that the family is safe.
And, the others that have had such an impact from this storm, I am so sorry. All I know to do is to keep you all in my prayers.

RE: Otis got a DUI last night

Agnes,
My oldest son got a DUI a few years back. He spent the night in jail, pleaded guilty, but, needed the attorney. It was the attorney that got him a DL to drive to work. The attorney had to get the machine thing, that you breath in before the car will start. He also helped him get his DL back, after he went to all of the schools, paid his fines etc.
He learned a lesson, paid the price and will not drive if he has had even 1 beer.
My advice is that he will really need the attorney even if he pleads guilty.
I am thankful that back in my drinking days, that I did not kill myself or worse some one else. Some one was watching out for me, cause I did not have the brains to watch out for myself.
Take care, I am sorry you are going through this. But, after lots of time and money, life will be normal again. And, I am sure he has already learned his lesson.

RE: Who else has learned the hard way?

We bought our 27ft "lite" 5th wheel and F150 truck as a package. Yep, it would pull it, but how well???? We only lasted one season, then traded the F150 for a F250 PSD. Way over kill, but we had big plans. Now, I am not sure I will make any of those long trips, but at least I know that it is safe, even if we just go 20 miles or so.
Live and learn!

RE: Coin Collection

What type collection?
Are they American coins? Are they just thrown into a jar or are they cataloged in those blue folders that collectors like to use? Have the coins been graded for quality?
You really don't give enough info about what you're dealing with.
There's a difference between a collection of contemporary pennies and $20 gold pieces!
That is one of my problems, I just do not know what I should even look for. They are all seperated by the year and in little baggies. There are two boxes, a little bigger then a shoe box. Then another box of rolled wheat pennies. They are all American coins. They have not been graded.
I will get them out and look again to see if I can see any thing else that might help. Thanks!

Coin Collection

I could use a little help with this one.
I have Skip's Dad's coin collection. I know nothing about it or about coins.I do know that there are a lot of coins in there. None of his kids want it. His Mom does not want it back. I know his kids could use some extra cash, so I was thinking of maybe selling the coins and giving the money to the kids.
Where would I go or who would I see. You have to remember, I am in Oklahoma, right in the big middle of no where. I only know of 2 places that advertise that they buy coins.
Any one have any advise????
